Obama-Doubters: Buy a Hat and Hang the F**k Onto It

Unlike many others, I guess, I give Obama credit for saying what he said to the VFW. He could just as easily have said it to a friendly audience. He could have preached to the choir. But Obama apparently believes that you run to be president of all the United States, not just the ones you carried. One America, remember?
Are you surprised? You shouldn't be. It's who he is and always has been.

McCain's relentless yapping at Obama's heels seems to have accomplished one thing: turned the focus of the campaign away from him, McCain, and onto Obama.
Howard Dean Talks to My Son
Sun Jul 20, 2008 at 06:04:20 AM PDT
My son is a huge fan of Hillary Clinton and took it pretty hard when she lost to Barack Obama. He's even threatened to vote for John McCain. Well, Saturday the DNC and Howard Dean brought their cross-country "Register for Change" bus tour to Baton Rouge. So we attended.
On the way there Miss Julie had an idea.
McCain$$ + RNC$$ = GOP Bloodbath in House
Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 11:34:53 AM PDT
A lot has already been written about the McCain/RNC money advantage over Obama. But what doesn't get discussed is how this leaves Republican Congressional candidates high and dry.
Until today.
Bobby Jindal Raised from the Dead? (POLL)

Jim Brown posted a diary over at Daily Kingfish wherein he lays out the case that Bobby Jindal's chances for the VP spot are alive and well.
That might be, but I think that's bad news for the Republicans. Here's why:
Gore, Nader, Bush...& Obama: The lessons of 2000 (POLL)

Diarist Mark Adams makes some pretty good points about Obama's rightward move in a post over at E Pluribus Unum. This one jogged my memory:

Osama bin Laden & The Boston Massacre

Could there be a more heinous villain in the popular mind than Osama bin Laden? No.
And/But the debate rages: if he should be captured alive, would he, should he, be accorded habeas corpus rights or not?
Speaking as a 55 year old man...WTF, Tim?

First of all, speaking as a 55 year old man...WTF, Tim? I saw Andrea Mitchell's interview with your doctor and he said you had your blood pressure under control, your "cholesterol fractions were optimal" and you worked out on the treadmill on a regular basis. Brokaw said he and your other friends were alarmed about your recent weight gain and tried to encourage you lose some of it by making it into a competition. And/But in the end it was a chunk of cholesterol that busted loose in one of your arteries, clogging the pipe to your heart -- and that was all she wrote. I'm really sorry it ended so early for you. And if it makes you feel any better, I now view your life -- career aside -- as a cautionary tale.
McCain Internet Rumors: GOP Disinformation? (UPD. w/POLL)

Plenty of diaries today, and earlier, about Obama's pushback on the Internet whispering campaign targeting him and Michelle.
So, today, when I received an email from a friend that contained some of the most vile, bizarre and heinous stuff I've ever read about John McCain...well, you tell me what you think:
Democrats: Turn the Page Already (POLL)
Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 07:50:47 AM PDT
I've been out of town for the last several days visiting family. So I've followed the DNC meetings only somewhat and the Puerto Rican primary even less. I've been reading a few online blogs. And it seems to me that the sweet milk of Democratic optimism has curdled somewhat.
Here's my take on it:
What If Obama Picks Hillary? (POLL)
Wed May 21, 2008 at 10:13:12 AM PDT
I am an Obama man through and through but I have to ask the question: Is it better for Barack to have Hillary outside the tent pissing in, or inside the tent pissing out?

Mississippi River States: Win 'em, Win the WH?
Sat May 17, 2008 at 07:19:52 AM PDT
I have a pet theory about electability that holds true for all presidential elections reaching back to 1900: whoever wins a majority of the 10 states bordering the Mississippi River wins the election.
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi.
Obama & the Role of Emotion in Politics (Poll)
Fri May 16, 2008 at 08:27:22 AM PDT
One of the arguments I often get into with my Republican friends (and also with my friends who are backing Hillary) is that Obama is all about...well, here's how one of them put it (I'll let you guess if it was a Republican or a Hillary Democrat):
West Virginia: Obama “not their kind of guy.” WTF?
Thu May 15, 2008 at 09:54:08 AM PDT
Jacki Schechner nails it:
Why is it we can't just call it like it is? White, uneducated, poor voters in West Virginia don't identify with the suburban-raised, Wellesley and Yale Law educated former First Lady and Senator from "the big city." A majority voted for Clinton because she's white. Or to be even more blunt, because she's not black.
I know anchors, reporters, and pundits can't come right out and say it - as Stewart spent 5 minutes pointing out [see below] - but I don't know why. Racism is shameful and the behavior of ignorant, close-minded people. We may be hesitant to label someone a racist, but if someone won't vote for a black man because he's black, then guess what? Here's your nametag, Princess Bigot.
Yours too, K-Whitey.
NBC/WSJ Poll: Bush Far Scarier Than Wright
